Sick Day
We’re home sick from school today. Logan woke up around quarter to four this morning to go to the bathroom and announced that she didn’t feel well and either wanted to skip Aftercare (I had a lunch time appointment that made picking her up from school tricky), or swimming lessons. I said fine and we’d figure that out in the morning.
All was quiet.
Then she was up again at 4:00 vomiting. And announced she didn’t want to go to school, aftercare or swimming. No problem. She was up again at 5 with a repeat. We’re home for the day. Now she’s sleeping fine. We’ll both nap later on.
Yesterday we watered lots of flower garden plants, and then all the roses with a soaker hose over night. I wonder if soaking them that much once a week would be enough. We need to weed and get a ton of compost around them. Fortunately the goats are very cooperative about producing composting materials. And they dispose of rose leaves with black spot on them very nicely, since those can’t be composted or left by the plants either.
This past week Helen, our pet Black Widow Spider died. She’s lived in a jar since September or October when John brought her home from since I’d never seen one. We caught flies for her regularly, and occasionally a moth. She’s survived by an egg sack, which we hope will hatch at some point so we can let the babies go — well away from the house.
We got a refund check from Umpqua Mini Storage yesterday in the mail — for ten dollars less than they’d agreed to send. John’s going to check back with them, since neither of us can figure out how they arrived at that figure, aside from creative mathematics. Perhaps there will be a second check in the mail later this week.
