Today we hung a door

Which involved a lot more repairing of the old door frame than I’d expected. The last owner of the property had hung an old interior door on the building we’ve been working on. Evidently it was somewhat misshapen and warped when he started with it. But rather than have gaps, he fitted his frame to it.

Now we’ve replaced it with a genuine second hand exterior door. It’s a pretty piece of wood, and a big improvement over what was in its place. But getting it in took finding all the old shims and bits of wood padding that were between the wall and the door frame and prying them loose. Which we did without taking the frame off because of the way the door frame was assembled. I’d always thought the frame was just warped. Now that it’s screwed down more or less flush with the wall it’s not looking warped at all!

The door looks downright nice, except I’d like to refinish it. That’s not a project for right now.

I’ll see if I can get a picture added to this tonight or in the morning. (Ha, got them uploaded!)
