Today is Logan’s birthday party.  Her actual birthday was Tuesday, with a school birthday that John and I went to and and got to see a lit candle and wishes for Logan from her classmates.  Today is everyone from her class who wants to coming here, as well as all the rest of her school friends who can make it.  I think only about a third of who we invited are coming, which is a good thing because we’d be bursting at the seams otherwise.  We may be anyway.

We are cooking and cleaning and doing all that usual stuff that gets put off until the last minute.  I left town yesterday with my grocery store collection of supplies all done, and then realized that I’d skipped over the place on my list that said “paper plates, paper cups…”  so I put in a call to my emergancy shopper Melanie and said “HELP”.    Melanie says she has lots of those and will bring some.  Carolyn and family are coming early to help with last minute stuff.  Other than that things will be as they are.  Our house is less messy than usual.  The weather appears to be dry and kids can play outside.  With luck there will be enough food, and it’s a party — kids will run around and play and get worn out.  It should work out ok.  We’ve got food and allergin free food, we’ve got space.  We’ve got goats to go and pet, if they don’t decide they are frightened of everyone.  Maybe John can stick a few in the barn at feeding this morning.

I did tell Logan this is it — no big parties again for a few years.  Maybe when she turns ten.  Or twelve.  Or sixteen.  We’ll see how this one goes and how long it takes to recover from it.
